Library
The N Gauge Society
library is run on a postal basis. The library list is available online.
The Society Librarian
is:
Mr Stephen Ash, 9 Harvest Way, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset BS22
9AN
An application for
a loan can be made using the Loan Application Form included on Page 1.21
of the latest handbook (2001), or simply print out this form.
Alternatively, all details may be included in a letter.
Online applications
are not available because it is not economic to accept online payments
of 50p per book.
The rules and conditions
for use of the Library are as follows:
- Up to four books
may be borrowed at any one time.
- All books are
issued for an initial period of five weeks from the date of posting
by the Librarian. However, the period of loan can be extended by a maximum
of a further seven weeks on agreement with the librarian. This will
normally be agreed, providing that no other member has requested any
of the books on loan.
- Each time books
are borrowed, the request should be accompanied with a cheque or postal
order, made payable to "The N Gauge Society", for the sum
of 50p per book. Should you wish to make an enquiry only, then a stamped-address
envelope (folded A4 size) should be provided.
- The N Gauge Society
will bear the cost of the outward postage, but the borrower is responsible
for all the return charges. To assist you on the size and weight of
books, a code is provided in the list of books. Codes range from "A",
for small lightweight paperbacks, to "E" for large heavy books.
- Books are sent
out in packaging, designed to ensure safe delivery. This packaging must
be retained and used to return the books
- Borrowers must
be over 18 years of age, and have an adequate period of membership remaining.
- Unless an acceptable
reason can be given for not returning books within the loan period,
the Society reserves the right to refuse the services of the library
to that member. If necessary, steps will be taken to recover the books.
- Borrowers are
expected to keep the books safely, to avoid accidental damage. All lost
or damaged books must be paid for at the full replacement cost. It is
worth mentioning that many of the books held are obsolete or currently
out of print.
