GWR 4-4-4 Class 25 Number 27 by John Saunders
Winner of the Presidents Shield

A drawing (from photographs and a drawing) was printed onto transparent film used as a mask to sensitise brass sheet coated with UV photosensitive film. Brass sheet exposed to UV radiation and subsequently etched to produce model components which were rolled or folded and then soldered to form the model.

NSR New L Class 0-6-2T by Phil Lundberg
Winner of the Chairman's Shield

The model is based on an Eric Mullineux white metal body kit on a Graham Farish 4F chassis. The kit has been fettled substantially to fit the chassis which was chosen to match the wheel diameter. A pony truck has been added to the chassis. Other details has also been added.

A model of an abnormal load unit owned by Abnormal Load Engineering Ltd. Model is scratch built out of plastic sheet and microstrip, wheels are from Village Models and Dornaplas. The trailer uses 192 wheels plus spares.

Fictitious Somerset & Dorest branch terminus located in Dorset at the end of a four mile line leaving a junction at Sturminster Newton. The signal cabin, goods shed, water tower and cattle dock are scratch built. Station modified Kestrel kit. The station has strong ex-LSWR influences in design.

Class 205 (3H) ‘Hampshire’ DEMU by Grahame Hedges
Winner of the Past Winners Trophy

Built from adapted TPM MLV cast resin cabs, BHE etched brass sides, adapted Farish Mk1 coaches, Ultima etched brass truss rods, BHE white metal and scratch built under-frame details, scratch built roof details and buffer beams, brass buffers, Micro-Trains ‘dummy’ buck-eye couplers. Powered with Bachmann class 170 motor chassis.

Landing The First Loco In Europe by Stephen Pugmire

The model is based on a photograph taken on June 14th of the landing of the Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 diesel shunters. As no ports were available to land them, specially adapted transporters were provided. The landing craft and tanks are kits, the tractor unit heavily modified; everything else scratch built.

Class 37 + 10 CDAs by Nigel J Stimpson
Winner of the The Dapol Trophy

Moorswater to Carne Point (circa 1988) China Clay Hoppers. Ian Stoate CDA conversion kits, on Minitrix hoppers. ‘Easysheet’ cast resin top, four cast white metal end details, individually shaped and positioned. The wagons were completely dismantled, components re-sprayed, brake and bearing details highlighted, transfers applied, varnished, weathered and taillight fitted.
