The NGS has received the first Engineering Prototype (EP) of its forthcoming BR Independent Snowplough model from Dapol.

The Snowplough is the second exclusive, ready-to-run model the NGS has commissioned and follows our successful Stove R, runner up in the N-gauge Rolling Stock category of the Model Rail/RMweb 2009 Model of the Year.

The first EP shows designers the main components of the model, and the fit of the parts, but does not include rivet detail or other refinements; to save on toolmaking costs these are only added once the basic parts are approved.  Once the first EP is accepted, a second prototype will be prepared incorporating the fine detail, followed by painted samples for final approval.

The first EP will be on display at the NGS AGM on May 20th 2010.

The model is on schedule to be released at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition 2010, and NGS members can reserve theirs with a small deposit via the NGS shop.

Snowploughs have carried numerous liveries - the actual liveries produced will depend on numbers received, but the three most popular liveries so far are shown below - BR 1960s black, BR Blue and Network Rail black.
