Welcome to the website of the N Gauge Society (often referred to as the NGS).  The Society is a non-profit making organisation, run by volunteers for the benefit of the railway modelling hobby in general and N Gauge modellers in particular. We have been supporting and encouraging N Gauge modelling of UK and worldwide railways since 1967.  We have approaching 6,000 members in the UK and abroad, and actively welcome new members, whatever their current skill levels.

Explore some of the material here, and if you like the look of us, why not join?  Downloadable forms for postal applications are available here (Word and PDF). or use our online system:

Alternatively, why not catch us at a model railway exhibition near you?  You can join up, and perhaps even buy your first NGS wagon kit or RTR model at the same time.  See the NGS Display Stand schedule here.

N.B. Please note that, for tax reasons, neither the Society Shop nor the Display Stand is able to sell items to non-members.

Society Shop re-opens.

Temporary arrangements:

As promised before Christmas we have been working to set up a temporary Society Shop to keep things going until the new manager and the new software are in place.

The Committee have decided that (in the short term) everything currently held in stock will be made available to the membership.  A decision may be made later to discontinue items that are readily available elsewhere.

Orders may be placed either (1) by using the new online shop order facility with secure payment facilities; access it through or follow the links from;  or (2) by post, to the address below, enclosing card details or a cheque payable to N Gauge Society (use the order form received with your latest journal, or download one here).

Hard copies of the stock/price list can be requested free of charge from:

Alan Reed, Croft Cottage, Havenhouse Road, Croft, Skegness, PE24 4AR tel.01754 880797 (before 2:00pm Monday to Friday).  Lists will also be available from the Society Stand as it travels around the various exhibitions.

At the present time:

Only items in stock are listed for “trade” items.  Out of stock items will not be shown and may not be re-stocked.

All N Gauge Society own products are listed but some may be temporarily out of stock.

Modelmaster transfers and plates are still to be listed and cannot be ordered yet in the normal way, but if you have a specific requirement, send us an email and we will try and satisfy it - see the 'NGS Shop - Modelmaster' menu item on the Shop facility.

See below for revised p&p charges.  Goods may be despatched from two locations so you may receive two separate packages but you will only be charged per total order.

Orders for plates and transfers must be submitted in the same way (when they become available) but the postage charge will only be £1.50 per order of five items or less.  At the present time we are unable to accept a stamped addressed envelope for dispatch because order administration is in a different location to the stock.

Please note that a limited supply of plates and transfers will be available from the Stand as it attends the various exhibitions during 2015.  For the list of exhibitions that the Stand is attending please click here.

We know that the systems are still not “state of the art”.  We know that there may be teething problems.  But we are back up and running!

If you need some more information then please contact us at  .  Please do NOT use this address for orders.

Revised p&p charges:

Following the recent re-opening of the Society Shop, it has become apparent that the flat rate £4 per order post and packing charge is no longer sustainable. Therefore, with immediate effect, the following charges will apply:

Orders up to £100

Orders over £100
& up to £250

Orders over £250

Can you help run the society?

N Gauge is growing, and so is the N Gauge Society.  This creates an ever-present need to spread the load from existing volunteers.  From time to time we also have specific positions we need to fill
