Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Untitled document

Our Annual General Meeting is held not later than 31st July each year for the presentation of reports from the Committee, and discussion and decisions on any proposals put forward by members. We also elect Officers and other appointments for the following year.  These formal activities are as outlined in our Constitution and Byelaws.

To give members a little more inspiration, we also organise an exhibition and an Annual Model Making Competition (AMMC) on the same day, making the event a great day of N gauge modelling.  While the competition is only open the NGS members, the exhibition is usually open to the public. Note that the exhibition normally precedes the AGM and therefore closes early in the afternoon.

2013 Exhibition, AMMC and AGM - Saturday June 1st 2013

Civic Hall, off Park Lane, Poynton, Stockport, Cheshire SK12 1RB

Hosted by --  Stockport Area Group

Dapol and Graham Farish have agreed to attend and we hope that we will also have Ntastic/County Rolling Stock, N Brass, Lytchett Manor Models and BH Enterprises.

There are three layouts booked so far: Aston Magna [1940's fine scale];  Bishops Bridge [Network South East];  Bodmin [1930's].

In addition there will be demonstrations, the Society main stand selling kits and RTR, the Society second hand shop, and the competion entries will be on display.

The AGM will commence at 1.30 p.m.  Notice of any intention to seek election to the Management Committee should have been forwarded to the Returning Officer, Mr Ben Ando, Vice President, (returning@ngaugesociety.com) by Monday 4th February 2013, following which prospective candidates had 14 days in which to secure a proposer and seconder in accordance with Bye Law 3.1.

Notice of any matters for discussion at the Annual General Meeting, properly proposed and seconded, should also have been forwarded to the General Secretary by Monday 4th February 2013, for inclusion on the agenda.

Annual Model Making Competition

Registration of entries for next year's competition started in January 2013. There are classes for models ranging from locomotives to single wagons, buildings and even complete trains. Once you've read the rules, you can find out how to register a model here.

2012 Exhibition, AMMC and AGM - Saturday May 26th 2012

Cotgrave Miners' Welfare, Woodview, Cotgrave, Notts NG12 3PJ

Hosted by --  Leicester Area Group

We thank the Leicester Area Group, especially John Malpus, for their excellent organisation, and a fine exhibition of N gauge modelling.  We also thank the operators of the layouts who gave us such a variety of inspiration on the day.  The layouts were: Claydon, Gresby, Haverstoe Yard  West, Helston, Herrenscar Harbour, Horseley Fields, Inglenook Sidings, Kirkdale Road, Loch Tat, Stamford East, Stonebrigg, Trackworkers Sleepy Hollow.

Once again we had strong trade support, with stands from Bachmann, BHE, Dapol, GEM/Fleetline, N Gauge Lines, Sherwood Models and, as usual, the Society second-hand Shop, as well as a demonstration of card building construction from Grahame Hedges.

Annual Model Making Competition

The Society's Annual Model Making Competition once again had a fine selection of some of the best in N gauge modelling, and the full results are now available, together with photos of the winners.

We are particularly grateful to Colin Allbright (Design Engineer, Bachmann), Steve Flint (Editor, Railway Modeller) and our own Noel Leaver, for undertaking the daunting task of judging all the entries.
