Journal Publication Dates
Modified extract from journal 3/10:
"Some members contacted Committee members about the delivery of Journal 2/10 being ‘late’, so it’s worth clarifying the Journal publication dates. The targets are the 15th of the ‘even’ month (February, April, etc.), but actual delivery to members in the UK can be as many as ten days either way (or even more, in very extreme circumstances!). There are several reasons for this. Firstly, the Journal is largely produced by volunteers, so sometimes, real life can get in the way! Secondly, whilst our membership figure of five thousand plus makes us a big model railway society, we are still a small print run compared to the professional monthly magazines who have print runs ten time what ours is. Our ‘small’ job often has to wait its turn behind bigger ones at the printers and at the distributors, but sometimes it can slip into a vacant slot and arrive ‘early’. The latter occurred for several recent issues with the result that many members assumed, as Journal 2/10 was ‘late’, that their copy had gone astray. We are gratified that members look forward so eagerly to the Journal, however a deluge of enquiries can swamp Committee members and, therefore, we would ask you to be patient before enquiring about possible non-delivery."
