Renewals operate on the anniversary system and normally fall due twelve or thirty-six months from the date of joining. Membership is not transferable and moneys are not refundable. Your subscription expires at the end of the month stated on your membership card.

A renewal form will be sent with the Journal when your subscription is due. Either renew with the form or via this website. If required, the downloadable application/renewal form (see above) may be used.

Existing members can still notify the Membership Secretary of address changes.

LATE RENEWAL FEE (UK £1.50, Eur £2.50, RoW £3.50) (with effect from the distribution of Journal 2/13)
If you are late sending in your membership renewal and miss the bulk distribution of the next journal, the Society incurs an extra expense because of the difference in cost between sending you your copy by ordinary mail and what it normally costs under the distribution contract. With the cost of reminders added in, it is calculated that the annual cost to the Society is currently approaching £1,000 and rising.
The Committee has therefore agreed to the re-introduction of a Late Renewal Fee. This will be due in respect of any renewal which misses the next journal distribution process as outlined above. However, in order to avoid administration difficulties, the difference this time will be that the fee will be optional, but, if not paid, will result in the reduction by one month of the member’s next membership period.
The fee (£1.50 for UK members, £2.50 for those in Europe and £3.50 for those in all other countries) will be introduced with effect from the distribution of Journal 2/13, although the 'ngs.join' website will be updated shortly. To avoid further expense, renewal forms will not be amended until the next reprint. If you require further clarification of the foregoing, please contact the Membership Secretary. In the meantime, if your renewal is submitted by the end of the month in which it is due, you will not be affected, so don’t delay!

*INCREASES w.e.f. END 2012
We managed to hold our Subscription at a constant level for eight years, but we regret that with effect from 1/1/2013 it became necessary to increase it by £1 p.a. to £16 (3 years £46), and also to increase the charge for the optional Handbook Ringbinder to £4.

**OVERSEAS MEMBERS’ POSTAGE CONTRIBUTIONS
With effect from 1st August 2011, the contribution required from overseas members towards postage costs increased as follows:

Europe (including Republic of Ireland) £8 p.a.; Rest of the World £10 p.a.

These charges were last increased by the Society in 2000. The increases in postage rates since then mean that we can no longer absorb the widening difference between members’ contributions and actual costs.

From the same date, the one-off joining fee (previously £5 for all applicants) remained at £5 for UK residents, but became £8 for new applicants resident in Europe, and £12 for those living anywhere in the rest of the world. This was necessary, not only for the reasons stated above, but also in respect of additional costs due to the increased size and weight of the Society Handbook which forms part of the New Member’s Pack.
