N Gauge Society Shop

Untitled document

The Society runs a mail order shop for supplying not only its own kits, transfers and products, but also those difficult to find bits and pieces. With nearly 2,000 products at competitive prices, the NGS shop is a convenient one-stop service for all our members' detailed N Gauge needs.

The NGS shop - 1900 N gauge products and growing

The latest shop listing appears with every issue of the  N Gauge Journal; as an interim measure we have made this same listing available on-line.  This is NOT an on-line ordering facility, but we hope that on-line access to the simple listing will be at least of some assistance.  To save scrolling through all 1900 or so items, we have collected together manufacturers by the first letter of their name. Simply click on the links below to see a listing with full prices:

Remember that the NGS shop is exclusively for the use of NGS members. If you would like to be able to order all your N Gauge accessories and kits from one place, why not join the NGS?

Wagon pre-orders and deposits

Credit card companies do not permit us to store card details for more than 72 hours, so if you pay your deposit for a new wagon project model by credit card, we are NOT able automatically to charge that card with the balance.  You must provide a new authorisation / order, together with your current card details.

N'spirations booklets

N'spirations Yearbook N'spirations 6 booklet

We have just taken delivery of the latest N'spirations 6 booklet, as well as the new A4 80 page N'spirations Yearbook. Both are available while stocks last.

The Yearbook in particular is a limited run publication, so get your orders in early.

N'spirations 2 is completely sold out, and while the NGS shop currently has stocks of 1, 3, 4 and 5, some are in very small quantities.

If you want to complete your set of these very useful booklets, don't delay.

Second-hand shop goes on tour

With the help of active local members, the NGS 2nd hand events are becoming firmly established, both "on tour" and in Clacton.  These open days give members a great opportunity to see the stock before buying, and to explore the large amount of smaller items that are hard to list any other way.

Experience shows that members will travel quite a distance to attend one of our 2nd hand open days, so the events are a useful opportunity to meet N gauge modellers, and perhaps even recruit a new member for your local group.   They are also a great chance to establish links to other local groups, and perhaps even share the organisation of the event.

We are already planning "NGS 2nd hand shop" outings for 2012, so if your Area Group wants to organise a similar event, why not get in touch to discuss the details?

Modelmaster

We are in the process of adding detailed information about our extensive Modelmaster range of transfers and nameplates.  This range is extensive, and the source information is not ideal for display on a website, so this process will take some time.  Rather than await completion of the project, as we complete a portion of usable information, we will add it to this site.  There is a lot to do, both converting existing disparate sources of data, and indeed creating new material.  Please be patient.

Orders for out of stock items

From October 15th 2010, any item(s) that are out of stock will not be placed on backorder, but will be listed at the foot of the invoice and you will be invited to re-order these items in 4 - 6 weeks time.

Members subsequently sending an order ONLY for items previously out of stock will not be charged further p&p,  providing they either

  • quote on their re-order the invoice number which advised them of Out of Stock items or
  • send a copy of that invoice with the re-order.

As announced in 2010, all items on the backorder files were deleted on 1st January 2011. Any credit for backorder items not supplied will have been automatically credited to your account for you to use against any new items you order during 2011.

New "open cheque" payment system

Members paying by cheque are encouraged to use the open cheque system.

  • Cheques should continue to be made payable to “N Gauge Society”
  • the figures box should be left blank.
  • Endorse your cheque, preferably between the lines of the crossing in the words portion, Not more than X pounds.

For example, if your order is for £17.00, plus £3.50 postage and packing, you would endorse your cheque as “Not more than Twenty one pounds”. This small margin will allow for any price increase or error in calculations. You then send this cheque with your order and we will complete the cheque to the value of the goods actually dispatched to you. As is normal, a full invoice will be included with your order.

Second-hand

Second-hand stock is not currently listed on-line, however we are actively exploring ways to make at least part of our listings available on the website.  Work is held pending an upgrade to our online ordering, but we hope to be making progress in Q4.  We apologise for the delay, but it is important to get this "right".

Please note:

Postage on all second hand items is 5% of the total value, minimum £3.50. We do not accept telephone or e-mail orders for second hand goods.

Postal ordering

Members will find an order form with each Journal. This should be sent to

The Shop Manager, The Retreat, 1 Park Square West, Jaywick, Clacton-on-Sea, CO15 2NS, U.K.

Postage

As notified in the 2/10 issue of the N Gauge Journal, increases in postal rates have forced us to raise the standard post and packing charges to the following:

  • UK & Europe = £3.50 per order
  • Other countries = equivalent to VAT (so effectively no extra charge)
  • Up to 5 packets of transfers or nameplates = No postal charge if you send an stamped C5-size SAE
    (with large letter rate stamp)

Future on-line ordering

In addition, we are actively developing on-line ordering.  Because of the number and variety of items we stock, this development is being handled very carefully.  It is probable that we will be offering a relatively simple facility initially, but we do hope to add further information to the shop listings over time.

Printable shop order form

Every issue of the NGS Journal includes a printed order form on the back of the address slip.  If you lose yours, or perhaps have used them all up, then we have now placed a printable version of the order form online.  Just follow this link and click the Printer Icon at the top right of the page.

Printable NGS shop order form.

This will only produce a blank form.  You will then need to complete it by hand.  As mentioned above, online ordering is in development, but this is not it!
